Junior School Serves up a Music Feast
Junior School Music Solos Evening
It has been yet another busy term for our young musicians in the Junior School.
On the evening of Monday, 12 May, 12 students chose to perform at the Junior School Music Solos Evening in the Fraser Auditorium. Dressed in performance attire, the students performed in a professional and entertaining manner. Ranging from beginner to more advanced, instruments represented included piano, clarinet, violin, trumpet, and voice. Well done to our wonderful performers!
Junior School Music Showcase
This year’s Junior School Music Showcase, themed Food Glorious Food, was a deliciously entertaining event. The audience was treated to a smorgasbord of musical delights, all centred around everyone’s favourite topic – food!
The concert started with a warm welcome as the entire Junior School sang “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, inviting the audience to join them on a musical journey through the world of culinary-inspired tunes.
Each year level brought their own flavour to the stage:
- Year 1 stirred up some rhythm with kitchen percussion in a playful rendition of “Vegetables.”
- Year 2 popped with energy as they performed “Popcorn” using colourful boomwhackers.
- Year 3 entertained with “Chicken Pieces”, combining singing, moving, and recorder playing.
- Year 4 shook things up with “Milkshake,” blending vocals, recorder, and dance into a sweet performance.
- Year 5 served up their class composition of “Food Blues,” singing along with ukulele accompaniment.
- Year 6 treated the audience to a xylophone arrangement of the quirky and catchy “It’s Raining Tacos.”
The Performing Arts Music Ensembles added even more spice to the mix. Guitar, Strings, Percussion, and Woodwind/Brass groups each performed their own tasty tunes before joining together for a medley of “Apples and Bananas” and “Fruit Salad.”
The choirs were just as scrumptious: the Infants Choir sang sweetly about “Chocolate,” while the Primary Choir delivered an excellent performance of “Lollipop.”
To top it all off, the entire Junior School came together once more to serve a rousing rendition of ‘Food Glorious Food’ from Oliver!, leaving the audience full of joy and satisfaction, as if they’d just enjoyed a five-star feast of entertainment.
