Australian Music Day Collaboration

On Friday, 1 August, our talented Year 11 Music 1 students immersed themselves in a day of collaboration at the Australian Music Day, hosted by MLC School. The event brought together young musicians from across the region to explore the art of composition and performance under the guidance of some of Australia’s most respected musical voices.

Our students participated in a Film Music workshop led by Cassie To, a renowned Australian composer known for her evocative scores and cinematic storytelling. The session offered students a behind-the-scenes look at how music shapes emotion and narrative in film, sparking new ideas for their own creative projects.

Students also dived into the world of songwriting with acclaimed singer-songwriter Josh Pyke. Pyke shared insights into his creative process, encouraging students to find their unique voice and embrace vulnerability in their writing.

A highlight of the day was the performance segment, where three of our students—Sophia, Ali, and Iz —took to the stage to share their original songs.
